Pursuit of Happiness

We live in a fast-paced world where the 24-hour news cycle and the gig economy have become the norm. Many of us have adopted a “hustle-and-grind” mindset that prioritizes work and career over everything else.

But is that all there is? The Nine of Pentacles reversed is an excellent reminder to pause and re-evaluate what happiness and success mean to us.

It’s not a bad thing to work hard to earn a living … but are you working to live or are you caught in a cycle of living to work? Are you grinding so hard that you don’t have the time or energy to fully enjoy the fruits of your labor?

It’s natural that our ideas of happiness and success shift and change as we grow and evolve. Perhaps your idea of success used to center on amassing material wealth, whereas now your focus is achieving emotional or spiritual wealth.

Give yourself permission to be flexible with your goals. Reflect on whether your current course is bringing you closer to that feeling of happiness and accomplishment.

You deserve to be happy and to feel successful. It’s OK to stop and smell the roses. And you’re allowed to ask yourself if you still enjoy their scent.

It’s easy to get so caught up in the daily grind that we lose sight of what we’re grinding for. Take this opportunity to reflect on your ideas of happiness and success. Are you on a path that aligns with your idea of success? Are the steps you’re taking truly bringing you toward happiness?
