Feel All the Feelings

Change is inevitable. And with any significant change, comes significant feelings and emotions.

The lotus encourages us to embrace the change coming to us. It also urges us to allow ourselves to feel all the feelings. They might be heavy and overwhelming. Embrace them. They are part of the process of creating change.

The cycle of the lotus blossom is aspirational. You are likely familiar with the image of the lotus – a large flower, seemingly floating on the surface of a murky body of water. Each night during its short blooming stage, the flower closes up and sinks back below the surface, into the murky water and mud. But at daybreak, the blossom rises again, looking delicate and pristine on the surface once more.

While the lotus looks soft and fragile, it is a hardy, durable plant. It has been around for ages, even thought to have survived the Ice Age. This is one of the many reasons the flower has become a symbol of longevity and resilience.

We face many challenges throughout our lives. Sometimes, we are pulled under by the current of those dark times. But just like the lotus, we are capable of enduring the dark. And when we rise up to greet the light, we can emerge beautiful and strong. Remember, you are more than the worst thing that has happened to you. You are solid. You are strong. You are resilient.
